Hello and welcome! I'm Wendi, and I'm thrilled to be running for the Rollingwood City Council. My love for this community and commitment to its well-being drive my desire to serve. My husband Jon and I, along with our three amazing kids—Luke, Elizabeth, and Emily—have lived in Rollingwood since 2009. We first moved into a charming 1950s ranch-style home that we dearly loved. In 2019, when a property next to the Zilker Nature Preserve became available, we decided to make an offer and build a new home for our family.

I had the privilege of serving on the Rollingwood City Council from 2016 to 2020.  During that time,  I led efforts to tackle traffic and speeding issues and spearheaded a total technology overhaul, which included a new user-friendly website, introducing video and live-streaming of meetings, agenda management software and an upgraded municipal platform, including integrated financial, building and court software systems.  I also rolled out a new community alert system—all aimed at enhancing transparency and accessibility for our citizens.

My tenure also included work on infrastructure, such as the development of the Infrastructure Improvement Plan (IIP), and updating the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) by initiating GIS mapping of pipes and valves for water and street.  These efforts laid the groundwork for the current water line improvement projects. We also initiated a spatial needs assessment for our facilities master plan, and a retail market study to inform our commercial comprehensive planning process.  I also spearheaded the creation of the Comprehensive Plan Strike Force to address community concerns, and ensure our planning processes for the currently adopted Comprehensive Plan were community led and supported.

I am extremely proud to have co-sponsored the Rollingwood Tree Canopy Ordinance with Council member Amy Pattillo, the first ever ordinance to protect our shared tree canopy.    Together, Amy and I collaborated closely to ensure Rollingwood's voice was heard in the MoPac South Project, advocating for our community's interests and priorities throughout the planning process. With the MoPac South project currently starting back up, our depth of knowledge and history with the project positions us to effectively advocate for Rollingwood.

Serving on the Council taught me valuable lessons, and I am eager to carry those lessons forward and continue this work with your support. I view this role as an opportunity to work together with my fellow council members and all neighbors to strengthen our shared values and goals. My focus is on fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment where every voice is heard, and every perspective is valued. By prioritizing thoughtful policies and community engagement, we can address challenges and embrace opportunities to keep Rollingwood a wonderful place to live.
